I am simultaneously wiped out and totally exhilirated after the Screenwriting Boot Camp week.  I came with no knowledge of screenplays and no expectations, just an idea to somehow make a movie out of a true story I'd written and published a few years ago.

New York screenwriter Robert Jordan is a remarkable teacher.  He is spontaneous and funny, brash and blunt, and a cheerful, deadly analyst of screenplays. He has the uncanny ability to hold in his head the pertinent details of emerging screenplays by fifteen or so Boot Campers, and to zero in on the good, the bad, and the confusing in each of them, nailing the problems and suggesting the direction to go for solutions.

Jordan is positive and supportive, enthusiastic in his praise, and his broad knowledge of the film world gives his advice real punch.  In the background is his partner Shirley Long, with a home full of file cabinets and shelves upon shelves of screenplay files.  The week of writing and rewriting was fun, hard, and ultimately very rewarding. I went home with the beginnings of a screenplay, with an enhanced understanding of where to go with it in the writing and rewriting ahead, and with the comforting knowledge that Robert Jordan's and Shirley Long's expertise are waiting to help me through the process.  .  .  .  Judy Sutcliffe

I was continually amazed at how on target Jordan was about what really mattered in each of our stories.  This Boot Camp, "the road less traveled" was a decision that may make all the difference to my writing.  You can tell, I'm sure, how positive I am about the experience I  had with you and Robert.    .  .  . I have taken the Boot Camp once  --  this is the second time I have taken the Weekend Seminar.  I loved it as usual and look forward to another. . . Brian Pettinger

Boot Camps are incredible because your attention is totally focused on your creative process -- no outside distractions.    Constant investigation of the process and how it applies to YOUR project with periodic critique sessions meant to intensify your image and words . . . New Yorker Robert Jordan comes to Iowa to conduct one every six months or so.                                                      . . . Sally Walker

Excellent class.  I was delighted with the course.

My choice for a teacher is the great Robert Jordan.  I took his workshop and he was outstanding.  Regards, Lew Ritter
